About Us
We are horse-loving individuals who have been united through a common cause. We’ve found that most people who sell horses are decent and ethical. However, there is an underbelly to the horse world that we’d like to expose; when it comes to buying horses, ignorance is not bliss. For the purpose of this website we define horse traders as people who:
* Buy primarily from auctions and sales.
* Target buyers looking for gentle trail horses, or horses their children can
ride safely.
* Invent fictional histories for the horses, and advertise them as “kid broke”
or "bomb proof" or "family safe" without knowing enough about them to make those claims.
* Price most horses under $2,000.
They are con men and women who care nothing for the safety of their customers or the future of their horses. They create very dangerous or potentially life-threatening situations with their lies, and are driving untold numbers of people away from the equine world.
Horsetradertricks.com endeavors to educate potential horse buyers about the ways traders misrepresent the animals they sell. We hope this site will reward and encourage the good horse sellers, and reform or disable the bad.
As a reader pointed out (thank you, SF), use this website to help make a safe choice, but never lose sight of the giddy and glorious happiness that will follow when you find a suitable horse...it will be worth your effort.
We are based in St. Louis, Missouri but we have contributors and supporters from across the nation. We welcome input and suggestions for improving the site. We hope you enjoy it and find it helpful.
